Rules and Repertoire
The competition is open to applicants of all nationality who are seventeen years old by August 2016.It will be in two stages.
Stage One: ( No longer than 12 minutes, maximum )
1. G.F.Handel’s The Harmonious Blacksmith, the Salzedo version
2. Choose ONE from the following etudes by Germaine Tailleferre “ Le Petit Livre de harpe de Mme Tardieu ”
Edition: Musik Fabrik, France / no.13
3. Free choice piece/s chosen from the general harp repertoire
Final Stage ( No longer than 15 minutes, maximum )
1. A new commissioned piece by Catrin Finch ( 5-6 minutes )
2. Free choice piece/s chosen from general harp repertoire
NOTE: All pieces must be performed from memory.
Music score can be used for the new piece. Applicants will receive the music for final stage at exactly the same date on May 1, 2016.
The order of the required and free choice pieces may be decided by the contestant. Music score for free choice must be brought by the contestants for the judges.
No change will be accepted after July 1, 2016.
There will be a compulsory workshop on August 11 which all contestants are required to attend.
Applications will be accepted from February 1, 2016 through to April 30, 2016.
Up to six winners will be selected to be awarded with certificates of merit.
The top three winners will be awarded with the following prizes:
First prize 50,000 baht
Second prize 40,000 baht
Third prize 30,000 baht
Special prize 15,000 baht for new composition piece.
( USD 1 = about 38 baht )
The first prize winner will also be awarded Her Majesty the Queen's Trophy which he/she will have tenure of for three years or until the next competition.
Five scholarships will be offered to needy harpiss who are taking part in an international competition for the first time.Interested parties should send their full curriculum vitae and teacher's recommendations by February 1, 2016.
